Your Words Matter

Tapping into our creative in fun and unique ways is challenging. Most of us don’t have time for an art class and won’t grab a canvas and some oils and give painting a shot. The thing is, creativity is everywhere and not limited to traditional notions of artists. Creativity is a way of life, a way of thinking. It’s a willingness to embrace new ideas and promote originality. You can be “crcreative treeeative” in your approach to making dinner, getting your kids to bed, getting your workout in. Creativity makes us feel alive and makes our days more interesting.  A creative mind is an important one and reflects an openness to new ideas.

The 6-word story burst into popularity a few years ago and is based on Hemingway’s 6-word tale that claims he created this minimalist story to win a bet. Now, it’s your turn.

To help give you some inspiration, here are some examples from a six word story site, and more from a Huffington Post article.

There is no right answer to this and it’s not a writing competition. Maybe start with a sentence or two and then scale it down. Think of magnetic poetry and how words get arranged to craft a clever sentence. You can use contractions as a way to grab two words in one.

Remember, this is fun and different and challenges your mind to work in unfamiliar ways fostering creativity.
